In the Saily app, tap Install eSIM, then Start eSIM install and Activate, and choose Data Only. Then go to Settings → Mobile Service, tap the Saily eSIM and switch on Data Roaming.
The catch: the Saily app needs iOS 18.0 or later, so an older iPhone may need an update first.
Setting up Saily on an iPhone takes two parts: install the eSIM from the app, then switch on a few settings. Do both at home on Wi-Fi, and the plan starts when you land.
What you need
- An eSIM-compatible iPhone that isn’t carrier-locked. Check Settings → General → About: no SIM restrictions means you’re fine.
- iOS 18.0 or later, and Saily app version 3.23 or newer.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection.
- A Saily plan, bought in the app or on saily.com.
Download the Saily app
- Open the App Store and tap the search icon.
- Search for Saily and tap Get.
- Confirm with Face ID or Touch ID if asked.
- Open the app and sign in with Apple, Google or Microsoft. Saily has no password.
Install the eSIM from the app
- Open the Saily app and tap Install eSIM.
- Select this iPhone and tap Continue.
- Tap Start eSIM install.
- Tap Activate, wait a few moments and tap Continue.
- Choose Home or Abroad for where you’ll use the eSIM, then tap Continue.
- Select Data Only and tap Continue, then tap Done.
- Back in the Saily app, tap Continue when it shows the eSIM is installed.
- Follow the prompts to turn on the eSIM line and select Saily for mobile data.
Turn on Data Roaming for the Saily line
- Open Settings.
- Tap Mobile Service (called Cellular on some iPhones).
- Tap your Saily eSIM.
- Switch Data Roaming on.
Keep your main SIM as the default line for calls and texts, and Saily for mobile data.
Turn off mobile data switching
This stops your iPhone falling back to your home SIM for data abroad.
- Go to Settings → Mobile Service.
- Tap Mobile Data.
- Turn off Allow Mobile Data Switching.
Manual setup if the app install fails
- Open Settings → Mobile Service and tap Add eSIM.
- Tap Use QR Code, then Enter Details Manually.
- Enter wbg.prod.ondemandconnectivity.com in the SM-DP+ Address field.
- Paste the activation code from the Saily app (under View instructions) and tap Next.
- Pick your main SIM for the Default Line and Saily for Mobile Data.
- Return to the Saily app to confirm the install is complete.
When you land
The plan activates automatically once you arrive and connect to a supported network. To avoid charges from your home carrier, turn off your personal line: Settings → Mobile Service, tap your personal SIM and turn off Turn On This Line. If you want to keep receiving calls on it, just turn off its Data Roaming instead.
If your iPhone won’t connect
Saily’s first check is to disconnect from Wi-Fi so the phone uses the eSIM.
Turn it on, wait 15 seconds, then turn it off.
In Mobile Service, tap the Saily eSIM and make sure Turn On This Line is on, then pick Saily under Mobile Data.
Tap the Saily eSIM, then Voice & Data, and choose LTE, 4G or 3G.
Tap the Saily eSIM, then Mobile Data Network, and enter wbdata in the APN fields for Mobile Data and LTE Setup. Leave the rest blank.

FAQ
Do I need a QR code to set up Saily on iPhone?
No. The app installs the eSIM. The manual code is only a backup.
Will iMessage and WhatsApp work with Saily on iPhone?
Yes. Both run over the internet. iMessage can use your Apple ID email instead of your phone number.
Can I still get calls on my normal number?
On iPhone models with Dual SIM Dual Standby, yes, while both lines are on. Your carrier may charge roaming for those calls.
When does my Saily plan start?
When you arrive and connect to a supported network, with the eSIM installed and Data Roaming on.
