Try three things in order: turn flight mode on for 15 seconds, reboot the phone, then select the network operator manually in Settings → Connections → Mobile networks. If you’re on an Unlimited plan, check whether you’ve used today’s high-speed allowance.
The catch: on Unlimited plans, speed drops to about 1 Mbps for the rest of the day once the daily high-speed allowance is used.
Saily’s help centre says slow speeds abroad usually come from network congestion or weak coverage. You can’t fix a crowded tower, but you can make your phone reconnect to a better one. These three fixes are the ones Saily lists for Android.
Fix 1: Turn flight mode on and off
- Open Settings and select Connections.
- Turn flight mode on.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Turn flight mode off and let the phone reconnect.
This forces the phone to drop the network and search again, which often lands it on a less busy connection.
Fix 2: Reboot your Android phone
- Press and hold the power button, or power + volume up, to open the power off menu.
- Restart the phone.
- If it won’t respond, press and hold power + volume down to force a reboot.
Button combinations vary by brand, so use the one your phone responds to.
Fix 3: Select the network operator manually
- Go to Settings and open Connections.
- Select Mobile networks.
- Tap Network operators.
- Turn off automatic selection and choose your network provider.
If you don’t see an operator option, Saily asks you to contact its support team, who can tell you which network to pick.
Other reasons your Saily data is slow
Each day you get a high-speed allowance. After you use it, speed drops to about 1 Mbps until midnight in your eSIM’s local time. To get full speed sooner, buy a regular (non-unlimited) plan for the same destination.
If pages don’t load at all, check that data roaming is on, the Saily eSIM is chosen for mobile data and the APN is set. Our inactive eSIM fix walks through each one.
Open the Saily app: your remaining data shows under your eSIM. If it’s nearly gone, top up your Saily eSIM.
Using a Google Pixel?
Pixel phones put the same settings under Network and internet instead of Connections, and the restart button combination is different. Follow our Pixel slow internet guide for the exact menus.
Still slow after all three?
Saily’s support team works 24/7 through live chat in the Saily app or a support request on its help centre. Tell them you’ve already tried flight mode, a reboot and manual network selection, so they can skip straight to the next step. See how to contact Saily support.
FAQ
Why is my Saily eSIM slow on Android?
Saily names network congestion and coverage as the usual causes. On Unlimited plans, speed also drops to about 1 Mbps after the daily high-speed allowance.
Does turning flight mode on and off really help?
It makes the phone drop and re-find the network, which can move it to a better connection. Saily recommends waiting 15 seconds before turning it off.
When does the Unlimited high-speed allowance reset?
At midnight in your eSIM’s local time, according to Saily’s help centre.
Which network should I pick manually?
Choose the provider shown for your Saily eSIM. If no option appears or you’re not sure, ask Saily support.
