Toggle airplane mode for 15 seconds, restart with power + volume up, then go to Settings → Network and internet → SIMs, select your eSIM and turn off Automatically select network to pick the provider yourself.
The catch: on Unlimited plans, speed drops to about 1 Mbps for the rest of the day once the daily high-speed allowance is used.
Google Pixel phones arrange their settings differently from other Android phones, so the usual “Connections” menu isn’t there. Here are Saily’s three fixes for slow mobile data on a Pixel, with the Pixel menu names, plus the extra checks for when data stops working altogether.
Fix 1: Toggle airplane mode
- Go to Settings and select Network and internet.
- Turn Airplane mode on.
- Wait 15 seconds.
- Turn Airplane mode off.
Fix 2: Restart your Pixel
- Press and hold the power button + volume up for a few seconds.
- Tap Restart.
Fix 3: Select the network operator manually
- Go to Settings → Network and internet → SIMs.
- Select your installed eSIM and check that it’s in use (the toggle should be on).
- Turn Automatically select network off.
- Choose your network provider from the list.
If no provider option shows up, contact Saily support and ask which network to use.
When it’s not slow but not connecting
Saily has a separate checklist for a Pixel with no internet at all. All of these are under Settings → Network and internet → SIMs → your eSIM:
Make sure the eSIM is in use, Mobile data is on, and Roaming is on. A travel eSIM needs roaming enabled to connect abroad.
Tap Preferred network type, unselect 5G and choose 4G or 3G.
Tap Access point names (sometimes under Advanced), tap +, enter wbdata in both the Name and APN fields, leave the rest blank, then tap the three dots and Save.
Go to Settings → Network and internet → Internet and turn Wi-Fi off, so you can tell whether the eSIM itself works.
Reset the network: Settings → System → Reset options → Reset Wi-Fi, mobile and Bluetooth → Reset settings. Afterwards, turn roaming back on and check the APN, because the reset clears them.
Check your plan and data
On an Unlimited plan, Saily gives you a daily high-speed allowance. Once you use it, speed drops to about 1 Mbps until midnight in your eSIM’s local time. Buying a regular plan for the same destination brings full speed back sooner.
On a regular plan, open the Saily app to see how much data you have left. If it’s nearly gone, here’s how to top up your Saily eSIM.
