The catch: turning the line off doesn’t pause your plan. Saily says an activated plan can’t be paused.

Switching your Saily eSIM off keeps it on your phone, ready for later. Switching it on, plus a couple of settings, gets you online abroad. Neither step deletes anything.

Turn Saily eSIM off on iPhone

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Mobile Service (called Cellular on some iPhones).
  3. Tap your Saily eSIM.
  4. Switch Turn On This Line off.

Turn Saily eSIM off on Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap SIM manager.
  4. Select the Saily eSIM and switch it off.

On a Google Pixel, the eSIM is under Settings → Network & internet → SIMs. Other Android phones may use different menu names.

Turn Saily eSIM back on

Turning the line on is only half the job. To get data abroad, Saily also needs data roaming and the mobile data choice set.

iPhone

  1. Go to Settings → Mobile Service and tap the Saily eSIM.
  2. Switch Turn On This Line on.
  3. Switch Data Roaming on.
  4. Go back, tap Mobile Data and select the Saily eSIM.

Android

  1. Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager and switch the Saily eSIM on.
  2. In SIM manager, tap Mobile data and select the Saily eSIM.
  3. Go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks and switch Data roaming on.

When to switch Saily on and off

Before you travel: install the eSIM and turn on data roaming at home. The plan activates when you arrive and connect to a supported network, so leaving the line on is fine.

When you land: keep Saily on and turn off your personal SIM, or just its data roaming if you want calls on your number. Also turn off mobile data switching so the phone doesn’t fall back to your home SIM.

When you get home: switch Saily off and turn your personal SIM back on. When the plan’s validity period ends, the plan and any unused data expire. Removing the eSIM after that is safe.

Will turning Saily off save my data?

Turning the line off stops your phone from using it. But it doesn’t stop the clock. Saily says an activated plan can’t be paused, so the validity period keeps running.

If you want to save data while the line is on, turn off background app refresh. On iPhone: Settings → General → Background App Refresh, then Off or Wi-Fi. On Android, Saily shows Settings → Network & Internet → Data Saver.

If Saily doesn’t connect after you turn it on

Check the toggles

The Saily line must be on, chosen for mobile data, and set to data roaming.

Toggle Airplane Mode

Turn it on, wait 15 seconds, then off.

Android APN

If the Saily APN is missing, open the Saily app and keep it open for up to 5 minutes so it can set it up.

Turn off Wi-Fi

Disconnect from Wi-Fi so the phone tries the eSIM.
