Install the eSIM from the Saily app, then go to Settings → Connections → Mobile networks and turn on Data roaming. The plan activates by itself when you land and connect to a supported network.
The catch: Saily has no Samsung-only guide. These are its Android steps, so a menu name on your Galaxy may differ slightly.
Saily’s official Android guide covers Samsung phones. Its menu paths (Connections, SIM manager, Mobile networks) follow Samsung’s setting names. Saily notes that Android phones other than Samsung may use different names.
What you need
- A Samsung phone that supports eSIM and isn’t carrier-locked. Check under Settings → Connections → SIM manager: if Add eSIM shows, you’re good.
- Android 10 or later and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- A Saily plan, bought on saily.com or in the app.
Install the Saily app
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Saily and tap Install.
- Open the app and sign in with Google, Apple or Microsoft.
Install the eSIM
- In the Saily app, tap Install eSIM.
- Select the device and tap Continue.
- Tap Start eSIM install, then Allow. Wait a few seconds without closing the app.
- Name the eSIM if you want and tap Next.
- Pick your preferred SIM for calls, then messages, then mobile data.
- Go back to the Saily app and tap Continue.
- Follow the app’s prompts to turn on the eSIM line.
Turn on data roaming
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Switch Data roaming on.
Make Saily your mobile data SIM
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager, tap Mobile data and select the Saily eSIM. Keep your own SIM for calls and texts if you want.
Manual install if the app shows an error
- Tap View instructions in the Saily app to see your setup details.
- Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager.
- Tap Add eSIM, then Scan QR code from service provider.
- Tap Enter activation code and type in the details from the app.
- Tap Connect, then Add.
- In SIM manager, tap Mobile data and select the Saily eSIM.
When you land
Saily activates once you arrive and connect to a supported network. Then turn off your personal SIM so your home carrier can’t charge you for roaming: Settings → Connections → SIM manager, switch off your personal SIM and tap Turn off.
Check activation:
- The Saily eSIM is switched on in SIM manager.
- Data roaming is on for it.
- The Saily APN is set. If it’s missing, open the Saily app and keep it open for up to 5 minutes. It sets the APN for you.
If your Samsung has no internet
In Settings, Connections, switch Wi-Fi off so the phone uses the eSIM.
Make sure the Saily eSIM is on, then tap Mobile data and confirm Saily is selected.
In Mobile networks, tap the eSIM, open the preferred network type and choose 4G or 3G instead of 5G.
Turn flight mode on, wait 15 seconds, then turn it off.
In Mobile networks, open Network operators and select the provider. If there’s no such option, contact Saily support.
In Mobile networks, open Access point names, tap add with the eSIM selected, and enter wbdata as both name and APN. Save it and select it.
