GigSky has a Russia page and lists Russia as a destination, so it’s the eSIM to check first; Saily doesn’t sell a Russia plan. GigSky’s Russia plans and prices load in its app, so confirm a plan is available before you travel.
The catch: we couldn’t see GigSky’s Russia plans or prices on its website, so only the app can confirm them.
Finding a travel eSIM for Russia is harder than for most countries. Some eSIM brands, Saily included, don’t sell a Russia plan. GigSky lists Russia, which makes it a good place to start. Here’s what we could confirm, and what you should check yourself.
What GigSky says about Russia
GigSky has a dedicated Russia eSIM page, and Russia shows as an active destination on its site. The page says:
- The eSIM connects to the best available local network, with 5G, 4G or LTE depending on the area.
- Activation takes one touch, and new users get a free 100 MB trial plan with no credit card, for a limited time.
- There are no contracts and no physical SIM.
GigSky’s guides describe its travel eSIMs as data only, so expect no regular calls or SMS. Use WhatsApp or other apps over data for calls.
What we couldn’t confirm
On 24 Oct 2026 the Russia page didn’t show any plans on the website itself. The plan list loads in the app, so we couldn’t read data sizes, days, prices or the networks used. GigSky’s Visa offer (up to 3 GB of free data in 175+ countries for eligible cards) doesn’t name Russia either. Treat Russia coverage as something to confirm in the app, not a given.
What to check before you buy
- A Russia plan appears in the app under your destination, with its data, days and price.
- Your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
- Your payment works. Pay in the app before you travel, while you’re on your home network or Wi-Fi.
- How you’ll stay in touch if the plan doesn’t connect, such as hotel Wi-Fi as a backup.
How to set up GigSky before you go
- Download the GigSky app and create an account.
- Find Russia, check the plan details, and buy the plan that fits your trip.
- Install the eSIM on reliable Wi-Fi before you leave home.
- On arrival, switch data to the GigSky eSIM, and turn off cellular data switching so your home SIM doesn’t roam.
Installing at home matters. If something goes wrong, you can sort it out on your own Wi-Fi rather than at an airport.
What about Saily?
Saily doesn’t sell a Russia plan: its Russia page returns a “not found” error, and Russia isn’t in Saily’s Europe regional plan. If your trip also covers other countries, Saily may still work for those legs. See our best eSIM for travel guide, or our Azerbaijan guide if you’re heading to the Caucasus.
Should you rely on an eSIM in Russia?
Use one if a plan shows in the GigSky app when you’re ready to buy, and treat the free trial as a way to test the app and install process. Because availability can change, check again a few days before you fly, and keep offline maps and screenshots of bookings in case data doesn’t connect. If no plan is listed, a local SIM bought in person is the fallback. Our eSIM vs physical SIM guide covers the trade-offs.
